I was fortunate to work with Lana Vukovljak a few years ago when she was President & CEO of the American Association of Diabetes Educators, assisting her and a task force of her Board members in updating and fine-tuning the Board’s governing role, structure and processes. I was struck at the time by Lana’s openness to – and enthusiastic embrace of – change on the governance front, her close attention to the myriad details involved in fashioning practical change initiatives (such as a new structure of Board governing committees), and her tenacity during the implementation process. She was, indeed, an Innovator-in-Chief at AADE during her watch, so I was delighted when she accepted our invitation to join this blog’s CEO Advisory Committee.
Posting last week’s article featuring CEO Advisory Committee member Rich Browdie’s leadership of innovation at the Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging reminded me that Lana has recorded a highly informative podcast on leading another critical strategic change initiative at AADE: modernizing the volunteer involvement structure of the association. Since volunteer involvement is a hugely important issue in the nonprofit sector, Lana’s podcast is must listening, so I’m pleased to make it available to our readers.
